You Gotta Have Heart
May 7th 2007 20:15
I was going to dedicate this entry to The Rolling Stones, but decided to go a different route. Did I mention that these entries follow no particular order? Oh well!
I think Heart was the best female led rock band of my generation. It wasn't all female or one female but a dynamic-duo female rock band made up of sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson. The other members were males who played a symbiotic role in the background. Ann was the power vocals behind the group and Nancy played guitar and backup vocals. Although Nancy was the lead vocals in a few songs like These Dreams and Will You Be There.
Here is a good Heart site.
I'm shocked, shocked I say, to hear that Ann makes a top vocalist of all time! Once on Rockline with Heart a caller commented that Ann's vocals KICK ASS! And I agree!!!
So much can be found on Heart even on Wikipedia!!!
The thing about the sex-appeal of Heart came to a head when the girls, especially Ann, went from straight hair to curly/common/perm disaster hair. Sure this is only my opinion but it seems shared by many a Heartmonger...as fans are called!
More info and history. Ann shows her brainy quotes.
One could say that I became of age when Magic Man was playing on the airwaves. You can't say that Heart didn't have an influence on my Rock and Roll tastes.
