The Ongoing Adventures of a Stupidly Sensitive Society

November 1st 2008 21:05
Halloween is a time of ghosts, monsters, witches, and anything that is scary, or percieved to be scary. It's a time of imagination and creativity, and is basically letting a kid be a kid. Now even this fun time of the year is being threatened as sensitive adults get insulted over stupid things!

I was into horror movies at the ripe old age of 8. Saturdays were an extravaganza of morning cartoons followed by monster movies about Dracula, Frankenstein, Creature from the Black Lagoon, etc. Sure they were corny by today's standards, but we all loved and watched them and even risked not sleeping at night due to fear!

So now it's Halloween and a hypersensitive teacher found a child's art disturbing. The art barred the child from school until he underwent a psychological examination! There is gang symbolism? Who knew? Talk about the teacher reading too much into something!

On the other side of the spectrum, God help you if you dress up like Jesus!

Update: I ran across yet another story that would appropriately fit here! You can't wear any type of costume at some high school football games! Since when is there a dress code at a football game? Do we need to be reminded of those that paint themselves and wear weird costumes at regular sporting events?

Save Our Sensitive society...Please!

So the teacher asked for scary Halloween masks but couldn't take the outcome? Honestly. It was for Halloween! She didn't ask him to draw a tree and he drew that, then maybe this craziness might at least have a basis.
PC really goes too far sometimes, and teachers need to stop reading so much into everything. She asked for the child to complete a specific task, and he did. If she then scared herself silly, that's her problem, not the child's.
