The Laughable Anti-Drug Campaigns!
April 16th 2007 16:46
Britain learns that it's fight against drugs is a failure. No kidding? My guess is that when you target kids as young as 7 with 'heroin screws you up' you pretty much peeked their curiosity. How often does a seven year old do anything you tell them?
On the good side, somebody got rich on these useless ads. Governments should focus on the fact that no matter how unappealing you make something, it's tough to say NO to peers. No matter what is said about cigarettes and booze, they still have a lucrative future. You can say and hear everything about marijuana but once you try that first joint you realize that everything you heard was a myth.
Governments aren't really good at preparing or preventing anything. This means ALL governments. Imagine in the 50s when a government film told you that in case of a nuclear attack you should hide under your desk at school. The cold hard fact was that if there was a nuclear attack, you would be kissing your ass good-bye if you had the time!
It's nice to see that Britain has come up with the term 'recreational' drug use, a term around since the 70s in the US. The irony about this whole thing is that Britain has among the toughest drug policies in the world where even any amount of pot is a criminal offense.
Which would explain Pete Doherty and Kate Moss!
