The Domino Affect
June 22nd 2008 17:11
The entire world is going through drastic changes over a number of issues that affect it. In the USA a sense of hope is turning into despair. The economy is bleak and there is no light in the tunnel. Then just when you think it can't get any worse, the flooding in the Midwest occurs. If you wonder why we still use sandbags for floods, be enlightened!
Here's a list of natural disasters of the past millenium. Although they seem to be growing in numbers, I doubt the records are accurate. The fact that we are hit over and over again adds to a possible economic disaster.
Do I really need to link to the news on oil? It has yet another affect on the economy by restricting travel, making transportation of items more expensive, making heating and cooling costs more expensive, etc. Everytime you try to save and conserve energy it ends up costing more in the long run, by prices rising more than before.
Given all this, we still face doom and gloom over a worldwide food shortage. Here's good information on food supply and food shortages.
Now we have new elections and new hopes. We can only hope that 5 years from now we can look back and again answer 'YES' when asked if we are better off than 5 years ago? Just like Bill Cinton asked on his second run for office of the President.
