Prevailing Hate
October 22nd 2008 18:26
Can there really ever be peace between the Palistinians and Israelis? I don't think you will ever see total peace. I think the hate cycle is vicious and overwhelming to the point that each becomes the other and regresses back.
You would think that an olive festival might have some symbolic gesture of peace, with the olive branch and all. Instead it is yet another way of spreading a hatred that keeps renewing itself like a flame that can't be extinguished.
We begin to see as there is provocation and then blame when an inevitable confrontation happens. At one time we watched as Palestinians were vilified as the cause of the ongoing conflict. Now while the Palestinians celebrate the olive harvest, it is the Israeli settlers who are the provokers.
Make no mistake that blame falls on both the Palestinians and the Israelis for the ongoing conflict. There are those on both sides who never want peace and will use any means to stop it from happening. Most images and information we get from the area is nothing but propaganda from each side that wants to make themselves look like a victim, and the other as the aggressor.
More violence against Palistinians.
More Jewish violence.
Not helping.
I tend to look at all situations rather than being one-sided on issues. My prediction is that there will be retaliation, and the Israelis will be the victims and the Palestinians the aggressors, etc. Sensationalism will once again prevail in the propaganda.
...and the cycle continues.
Prove me wrong!
