Peace Beer
October 16th 2008 23:04
Muslims are strict on alcohol. That is why it is so bizarre to hear about a micro-brewery in none other then the West Bank! It is called Taybeh. Taybeh is Arabic for "delicious." While it caters to a variety of alcoholic brews, it sells non-alcoholic beer to Muslims. Genius! Pure genius, in my opinion.
Nadim Khoury, the owner and brewmaster, learned the art of micro-brewing in his 23 years of living in Boston. There is a great story behind this brew and how it is able to co-exist with all of its Muslim neighbors. Khoury believes his beer will lead to a Palestinian state and peace in the Middle East.
Dare to dream!
