Parental Standards
April 10th 2010 21:10
Sometimes parents go overboard for their children. They want them to succeed and will blame others for their inevitable failures. If you know the rules going into a game, you look like a douche bag when you try to change them because you are a sore loser and cannot succeed!
So now that I have had my soapbox moment with the intro, let's get to my gripe about the faultless society we live in today, where everybody else is to blame. The story is about a 16-year-old student who gets suspended from her lacrosse team for violating the school's honor code. See she signed a form saying she'll avoid alcohol, tobacco and I'm sure drugs.
Now this brilliant student got photographed holding a beer can at a party. I'm sure it was circulated on some social network or some student site. Either way she violated her honor system and is not allowed to be a jock!
Of course the parents, who see nothing wrong with a 16 year old and beer, have filed a lawsuit. They say their daughter's constitutional rights have been violated. Seeing that she was forced at gun point to sign the form and that in most states drinking is illegal under 21 years old. Leave it to the parents to blame everybody but themselves for their precious daughters stupidity and start to alcoholism.
