In case you missed it, you should read my Pothead Nightmare entry. It's about smoking cannabis being banned in cafes in Rotterdam. The ones affected were the ones near schools. Well, it gets worse, my dear pothead!
In July of next year, a Dutch smoking ban will be enforced to include cannabis smoke! It may not ban marijuana completely, but it will change smoking plans. A designated area will be made to accomodate smokes...For Now! Usually something like this is the start to totally banning it. Airports once had smoking areas, then they were removed for health concerns!
This double-standard law(s) already comes with loopholes that seem minor. You cannot be served in the smoking area because it might endanger the staffs' health. The creation of the legal loopholes may stem from the loophole of drug use in the Netherlands. From the article: Soft drugs are officially banned in the Netherlands but under a policy of tolerance, buyers are allowed to have less than 5 grams of cannabis in their possession.
