Not Your Parents' 'Hooking Up'
March 10th 2007 20:05
In the 50s, 'cutting the grass' meant to mow the lawn or something involving, well, grass! In the 60s and beyond, it was a slang for harvesting marijuana. Cool became Hot, but Cool still can override Hot. It's all in the words and making them hard to understand to intruders such as parents, teachers, and narcs!
What would you do if your adolescent told you he/she was going to 'hook up' with someone? Teens seem to be leaving the dating scene and going to 'hook-up!' The phrase means a casual sexual encounter with anything from kissing on up with no strings attached! This seems to be a Cut To The Chase attitude where you cut through the BS and just fornicate!
The summer of love has become the century of lust as we are in the midst of the sexual perverted revolution. It seems that 1967 has truly evolved in 2007...but those are my personal demons.
