Gas Bitchin' and Cry Babies

Does anyone remember 1973? That's when the world's oil woes started, or became apparent. This was due to Saudi Arabia and other oil possessing nations that make-up OPEC! This is another story for another time.
In the 70s, when I lived for a few years in Europe, gas was $3-4 a gallon. Canada in the 80s was the same. The US didn't get to over $1 until the late 70s. This often varied between States.
Whether it goes up one cent or a dollar, we have a natural tendency to bitch and moan. In the process we do not change our habits, and will spend whatever it takes to maintain our lifestyles. We may go shorter distances on our vacations if we drive. Still the airline industry that is booming again will see an increase in travellers...even though they charge you for their more expensive jet fuel!
We will bitch at the Oil Industry and bitch about their enormous profits, but cannot dwell in a cave with real primitive survival skills. We tend to forget that OPEC is profitting, too. Before you start contradicting me, you should know that in Venezuala gas is $0.12...THAT'S TWELVE CENTS!!!
I think that the global market economy is a disaster for the US. There are laws of averages, karma, fate, etc. This goes against us, because like our earth(The Natural Order) we must let the odds get even. We paid a lower price than many places in the world, now we must reach an average. Just be glad you don't live in Amsterdam!
