Controversial Art

May 16th 2010 13:43
It seems that if a known artist paints his work in public, a fanatical preservation society can come and take it away. So it would seem that that is the case unfolding in Detroit.

A well known stealth graffiti artist, that has left his work all over the world, decided to strike somewhere in Detroit. Graffiti artist Banksy delivered a surprise piece on a wall in Detroit. After the discovery, a grassroots art preservation society removed the entire wall where the art was.

This has sparked a controversy as to if the 555 Nonprofit Gallery and Studios, had the right to remove this 1500 pound cinder block wall. It seems that this firestorm is just beginning to unfold.
