If this study really surprises anyone, you probably live under a rock. What surprises me are the high numbers. The US is still number one in Television viewing. We view more hours of daily TV watching than the rest of the world. My TV viewing is way down as opposed to 5 years ago. With all the reality TV shows of today, TV isn't even entertaining to me like it once was.
This study does speak volumes in that the TV is still the center piece of any household. It still makes a convenient babysitter, companion, entertainer, information source, etc.
TV is called the boob tube because too much viewing can literally cause problems with health and social interactions in some people.
