AlItonions!

This story has it all. A diverted plane, a strong overpowering smell, the 'no-fly' list, a happy ending. It also goes to show how common household items can act as a devastating gas!
Our journey begins aboard an AlItalia cargo plane flying from Milan to Miami. Perhaps it is a routine flight but today it may not be too routine. While on it's destination the plane had to make an emergency landing at Logan Airport.
The crew was so overcome by an odor they had to wear oxygen masks. At first they thought it was toxic and flammable leak, because the plane was carrying those materials. After they inspected the aircraft they found all materials to be secure.
The culprit was the 5 tons of minced onions that were in the cargo. The smell was so bad and overwhelming that the FAA put them on their 'no-fly' list! The plane took off after 3 days which I assume it took to get rid of the smell!
